Dear
:

Welcome to the July issue of the COSE Arts Network
e-newsletter. There is so much happening in
Northeast Ohio this summer. Here are a few things you
won't want to miss:
- The COSE Networks Technology
Fair: This event was created to help meet the
tech challenges facing the COSE Arts and Home-Based
Business Networks. Tech companies that are interested
in working with artists will be on hand to answer
questions and give advice on how to determine the
right security/virus protection for your computer,
improve your online presence and budget for new tech
products. Join us on July 26 from 1 - 5 p.m.
Don't miss it - register
now!
To get you in the IT mood and for
ideas on artists' blogs, read this interesting

- The Ingenuity Festival is another
exciting event that brings art and technology
together on July 13 - 17. The festival kicks off
at 5 p.m. on July 13 on Public Square. Be sure to
check out the new Urban Arts Market - it will feature
COSE Arts Network and Red Dot Project
members' work.
- Mix and Mingle: Art House Inc's
SEAN (Supporting Educators and Artists Network) and
the COSE Arts Network are joining forces for the
annual Mix and Mingle on October 5. The event, which
gives artists a chance to exhibit their work and
network with potential clients, will be held at
the Future Center at the Cleveland Institute of Art.
Think October is far off? It'll be here faster than
you think- submit your work now! More
info.
- Red Dot Project Special
Offer
The Red Dot Project is an incredible
tool for regional artists. It serves as an art
resource for business, corporate and individual
clients, as well as gallery owners, curators and art
consultants looking for art to purchase, sell or
exhibit. Membership is determined through a peer
juried process, and costs $75 a year. However,
a free membership is offered through joining the COSE
Arts Network! For more info go to www.reddotproject.org.
I am excited to update you on the progress of the

COSE Arts Network
Education Events
The
Spring session of the Artist as
Entrepreneur Institute, presented by Community
Partnership for Arts and Culture (CPAC) and the COSE Arts
Network, just concluded. The group
represented a wide array of different types of artists -
a mix of painters, designers, musicial artists and dancers.
They heard tips from attorneys, market researchers,
accountants and other artists. Alumni of the Artist as
Entrepreneur Institute can take refresher courses for $25 per
session during the fall session. For more information, call
CPAC at 216-575-0331.
To
continue the momentum of the Artist as Entrepreneur Institute,
the COSE Arts Network is starting an Arts and Business Discussion Group
for members. Join us for the initial discussion on
July 12, from 4 - 5 p.m. at the COSE offices. (This meeting is
for members only). Help us shape the discussion with the below
survey. Please call 216-592-2472 with questions or click
here to register.
Cuyahoga County Arts and Culture Funding -
Issues Briefing: come learn about a very important
issue facing Cuyahoga County in the next election - it will
ask voters to approve funding for arts and culture through a
cigarette tax. Hear about both sides of the issue on July 21
from 7:30 - 9 a.m. at the COSE offices. To register,
please contact Deanne Dixon at 216-592-2342 or ddixon@gcpartnership.com.
This event is for COSE/GCP members only.

Overhead for
artists
Overhead
is everything related to running your business - rent,
utilities, equipment, supplies and taxes; basically,
every cost related to being an artist accept for the
expense of having employees. These are necessary
expenses, but with a little planning, you can reduce
some of your costs:

-
Cut
the cost of your utilities Join an energy
aggregate (a group of customers). This is a "strength
in numbers" approach to getting good rates on natural
gas and electric prices. You can join through many
local governments, or through business organizations
like COSE. Our Energy Program saves members an
average of 15 percent off their monthly bill,
collectively saving members $1 million annually. Get
