Welcome
to the first COSE Arts Network
e-newsletter!
Dear COSE
Member:
| |
|
The COSE Arts Network officially kicked-off with a
party at SPACES on April 27. After months of meeting
with many artists and arts organizations, a few needs
became very clear:
- Access to affordable health care, and help
understanding it
- Connecting to other artists and arts resources
locally
- Help with business stuff- legal, tech, and
financial, especially
- Making it affordable!
I am excited to update you on the progress of the
COSE Arts Network as we've begun to address these
concerns:
COSE Arts Network member Dustin Elliot, and his
business Absolute Music Productions, was
featured Thursday, May 18 on WVIZ-TV on the
show Ideas. The show featured a
segment on the COSE Arts Network and CPAC.
Next month's e-newsletter will feature more
information on our current partners, Art House, Inc.,
CPAC, the Red Dot Project and SPACES - all offer
promotions to COSE Arts Network members. If you would
like to learn more about these partnerships, please feel
free to call or e-mail me at any time.
I'm looking forward to further developing the
offerings of the COSE Arts Network to meet the needs of
our members. Please contact me with any questions,
suggestions or concerns. I'd love to hear from you!
Sincerely,

Education EventsOur first COSE Arts Network
educational event was May 11 at Severance Hall. It was titled
Music Practice and featured a panel
discussion on the business side of being a professional
musical artist. A diverse group of musicians, from opera
singers to rock artists, joined us for a lively conversation.
We will continue to develop similar programs throughout the
year. Join Arts Collinwood and Art House SEAN
(Supporting Educators and Artists Network) on May 24 for the
program: Artists and Public Shows.

2005 Benefits of membership:
It's
always beneficial to be a part of a group. I feel that
as an arts-based business, being a member of COSE shows
you are ready to progress to the next level. It puts me
in a position to network and reach out to companies that
may need my services. There's no "custom music" section
in the yellow pages, so I need to put myself in a
position that makes me and my services as visible as
possible. I feel that COSE is a strong organization that
can help me achieve that goal. Read

Decision '06: COSE
Small Business Issues Conference Is
Ohio's government giving you what you need as an artist?
Give COSE your two cents at Decision '06: COSE's Small
Business Issues Conference, Thursday May 25 at the
InterContinental Hotel. Help COSE set its advocacy
agenda for Ohio's next Governor through a series of
breakout sessions addressing economic development,
health and human resources, regulation and taxes. Attend
all day or stop by for the sessions you're most
passionate about. Ted Strickland, Democratic candidate
for Governor will speak at breakfast and Tom Raga,
Republican Lt. Governor candidate (Blackwell ticket)
will speak at lunch.
The day wraps up with a
cocktail reception with many of Northeast Ohio's public
officials in attendance.

COSE Business Space "Coffee
Talk" The name says it all: grab a
coffee at Java City and talk to other COSE network
members at a very informal networking event. In
addition, you can check out the new COSE Business Space
at Corporate College East - feel free to stay, conduct
business and work on their computers or your laptop in
the wireless internet space. The first event will be
held on Friday, June 2 from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. at
Corporate College East. The event is free and no
registration is required! More information.
Community
Conversations COSE will be
hosting the Community Conversations event in
partnership with Voices & Choices, an initiative of
the Fund for Our Economic Future. This event will help
identify regional challenges and develop ideas to drive
economic competitiveness. Voices & Choices has
already involved thousands of people in setting a course
for Northeast Ohio's future that will produce more jobs
and create better economic opportunities for our
families and businesses. The conversation that you and
other artists have will build upon the momentum
that Northeast Ohio residents have already started and
will help to create an action plan to revitalize the
region. The event will be held on June 2 from 9 - 11
a.m. at Corporate College West. Please visit
www.cose.org/events for more information or to
register.
The COSE Arts
Network is made possible through the support of the
Community Partnership for Arts and Culture (CPAC),
Leveraging Investments in Creativity (LINC), the Ford
Foundation and the Eva L. and Joseph M. Bruening
Foundation.
